Dr Mohannad Alireza (2025)

Dr. Mohannad Alireza, MD, is a current clinical fellow in our program. He earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,followed by a clinical internship at the same institution. Dr. Alireza completed his five year ophthalmology residency program in Paris, France, training at several prestigious hospitals. During this period, he obtained his French Board of Ophthalmology certification from Sorbonne University in Paris, France.

Upon returning to Jeddah, Dr. Alireza practiced as an ophthalmologist at one of the nation’s leading ophthalmology centers, providing comprehensive eye care with a focus on retinal diseases and performing cataract surgeries. To further enhance his surgical skills, he spent a month in Chennai, India, at the renowned Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, performing numerous cataract surgeries under supervision.

After three years of practice, Dr. Alireza joined the Queen’s University Retina Fellowship to pursue his passion for treating retinal diseases. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and working out.

Dr. Laura Reyna achieved her medical degree at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in Guatemala City in 2011 where she received the "Quan Ma '' diploma for being the medical student with the highest standing during several years. The following year she began her residency training at the Unidad Nacional de Oftalmología which she completed in 2016 with the recognition of Cum Laude. The same year she started a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus fellowship at Unidad Nacional de Oftalmología and after its completion she started to work at a busy private practice in Guatemala City and San Benito, Petén. In 2019 she was selected as treasurer of the board of directors of the Guatemalan Association of Ophthalmology and started as associate editor of the local ophthalmology journal: Oftálmica. She is currently involved in private practice with great interest in telemedicine and medical education.
