April 2025—Dr Martin ten Hove held his last clinic as a full-tme academic faculty member in the Queen's Department of Ophthalmology.
Dr ten Hove was the mainstay of the department's Neuro-Ophthalmology service since 1995. He served as department head and chief from 2012–2022, and previously as deputy department head from 2003–2012. Dr ten Hove also served as the residency program director in the late 1990s.
Dr ten Hove reached the rank of Associate Professor in the department, and held the Edna and Ernie Johnson Chair in Ophthalmology from 2014 until 2022. He served on numerous hospital, university, and national committees, and was an active educator through dozens of professorships and a presenter at many symposia. He was nominated for the Garth Taylor Excellence in Teaching Award by the resident body three times.
He does plan to return in a research + education capacity after a very well-deserved break.
