Congratulations to our Residents

    Dr. Brissette was selected as one of 10 winners of the 2015 Foundation Resident Excellence Award. The award is given for exemplary performance in the areas of research, patient care, leadership and education and is tied to her study entitled: "“Punctal plug retention rates for the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye: A Randomized, Double-Masked, Controlled Clinical Trial.” (Authors: Brissette AR, Mednick Z, Schweitzer K, Bona M, Baxter S*, corresponding author).
      
    Dr. Yau received a Novartis Resident Research Award ($750) for his project discussing ”whether eyes with increased intraocular pressure are associated with better visual function in patients presenting with papilledema secondary to idiopathic intracranial hypertension” (Supervisor: Dr. ten Hove).  This project was selected amongst a pool of residents and fellow ophthalmic research projects throughout Canada.  This will be 1 of 5 projects highlighted in a national issue sent to ophthalmologists throughout the country.
     
    Dr. Khan also received a Novartis Resident Research Award ($750) for her project evaluating “the efficacy of prophylactic ketorolac 0.5% vs. nepafenac 0.1% versus placebo on macular volume 3 years after uncomplicated phacoemulsification cataract extraction” (Supervisor: Dr. Urton) As with Dr. Yau’s award, this project was selected amongst a pool of residents and fellow ophthalmic research projects throughout Canada.  This will be 1 of 5 projects highlighted in a national issue sent to ophthalmologists throughout the country.
